The declaration of goodwill on the establishment of the Alliance of Cinema Managers of the Turkic World (TURKFILM) was signed in a ceremony held in Tashkent, TuraNews.kz reports citing the press service of the TURKSOY.
The signature ceremony, which took place at the “Renaissance” cinema house and was the founding event of the Alliance, was attended by the President of the Azerbaijan Cinema Agency Orhan Fikretoğlu, the President of Kazakfilm Azamat Satybaldi, the Director General of Cinema of the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic Akjoltoi Bekbolatov, the Head of the Cinema Agency of the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan Firdevs Abduhalikov, the Director General of Cinema of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye Erkin Yılmaz and the Head of the Department of Press and Information and Special Representative of TURKSOY for Cinema Mr. Salim Ezer. The Union of Cinema Directors of the Turkic World (TURKFILM) was established upon signature of its founding document.
At the 40th Meeting of the Permanent Council of TURKSOY, the General Secretariat of TURKSOY was entrusted with the task of establishing a working group of professionals from TURKSOY member countries in order to support joint productions that will strengthen the unity and solidarity of the Turkic World, to create the mechanisms needed by the Turkic cinema sector and to enrich the joint projects already carried out.
As part of the work carried out within the scope of this task, the directors of the Azerbaijan Cinema Agency (Azerbaijan), KAZAKFILM (Kazakhstan), the Cinema Directorate of the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policies of the Kyrgyz Republic (Kyrgyzstan), the Cinema Agency of the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan (Uzbekistan) and the General Directorate of Cinema of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey (Turkey) came together at working meetings held in Tashkent, Baku and Samarkand and agreed that the establishment of a union would be extremely beneficial.
At the meeting hosted by the Cinema Agency of the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan in Tashkent on December 25th, the parties in question signed a declaration of goodwill, agreeing to establish the Alliance of Cinema Directors of the Turkic World (TURKFILM) in order to provide support to the stakeholders of the Turkic cinema industry on issues that may be needed, to encourage the production of productions that reflect the rich cultural heritage of the Turkic World and strengthen the unity and brotherhood of the Turkic peoples, to ensure the mutual transfer of existing knowledge, experience and experience in the field of cinema and thus contribute to the social, cultural and economic development of the Turkic World.
In his message shared during the event, TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev drew attention to the potential of TURKFILM in enhancing mutual cooperation in the field of cinema and the potential of cinematographic works in bringing the rich Turkic culture to a wider audience. In their speeches, the participating members made a joint statement that the establishment of TURKFILM should be considered as a historical milestone for the cooperation of the Turkic World in the field of cinema.
