Kyrgyzstan to Ban Advertising of Unqualified Psychologists

The changes aim to protect the public from the growing number of untrained people offering psychological consultations, courses, and trainings.

The Zhogorku Kenesh, Kyrgyzstan’s Parliament, has passed amendments to the country’s Law “On Advertising” in its second and third readings, introducing a ban on advertising psychological services provided by unqualified individuals.

Lawmakers highlighted the rise of unqualified individuals promoting psychological services, especially through social media, where potential clients often do not verify their credentials. The new regulations are intended to safeguard both minors and adults from potentially harmful services.

In addition to this ban, the amendments also introduce restrictions on the advertising of gambling-related activities, including games, mutual bets, and services provided by bookmakers and sweepstakes. Advertising for these activities will only be allowed in designated venues where such events take place, with a ban on broadcasting these ads during live or recorded sports competitions.
