The Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan has proposed introducing a temporary ban on the export of food wheat and flour, in order to ensure the country’s food security and stabilize market prices, Turanews.kz reports.
The draft resolution has been submitted for public discussion, and it is proposed to introduce a temporary restriction on exports outside the customs territory of the Kyrgyz Republic to states that are not members of the Eurasian Economic Union.
The document notes that food wheat and flour are socially significant products, and a shortage of these raw materials on the market could lead to a food crisis in the country.
The proposal comes in light of rising prices in Kazakhstan due to weather conditions, as well as the rejection of applications for the transit of food grain through the territory of Kazakhstan.
If the draft resolution is approved, it will be in effect for a period of six months.
