Kyrgyzstan, Ozbekistan and China singed agreement for railways

A cooperation agreement regarding the construction project of the section of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway in the territory of Kyrgyzstan was signed in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

In the statement made by the Kyrgyzstan Presidency Press Center, it was stated that in the city of Samarkand which will host the summit of the leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states, a cooperation agreement was signed regarding the construction project of the section of China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway within Kyrgyzstan.

It was noted that the agreement was signed by the Minister of Transport and Communications of Kyrgyzstan Erkinbek Osoyev, the Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan Ilhom Mahkamov and the Chairman of the State Committee for Development and Reforms of China He Lifen.

The agreement envisages the completion of the feasibility study on the Torugart-Barley-Makmal-Jalalabad route that the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway will be made, by 1 June 2023 at the latest.

The parties will sign a tripartite agreement aiming to distribute the costs of the feasibility study in equal shares between the parties.

Thanks to China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project, it is aimed to provide Central Asia with access to the Southeast, West Asian and Middle East markets.
