Kyrgyzstan Issues Diplomatic Note to Russia Over Migrant Concerns

Kyrgyzstan has raised concerns over recent changes in Russian legislation affecting its citizens residing in Russia.

On February 19, in Bishkek, Deputy Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Almaz Imangaziyev met with Russian Ambassador Sergey Vakunov to discuss new entry and stay regulations for foreign nationals, including mandatory pre-registration and reduced temporary residence periods.

The Kyrgyz side emphasized that these changes could negatively impact the mobility and employment opportunities of Kyrgyz migrant workers. Attention was also drawn to new Russian language proficiency requirements for foreign children enrolling in Russian schools.
