Kyrgyzstan Imposes Temporary Coal Export Ban

The Kyrgyz government has introduced a six-month ban on coal exports, as outlined in a resolution signed by Akylbek Japarov, Head of the Cabinet of Ministers.

The ban prohibits coal exports by road outside the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) customs territory, with exceptions granted for the Irkeshtam and Torugart road checkpoints. Additionally, the state enterprise Kyrgyzkomur is permitted to export coal through these checkpoints.

This restriction applies to coal classified under codes 2701 and 2702 of the EAEU Harmonized System. The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has been tasked with informing the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) about the new measures.

The resolution will take effect 10 days after its official publication.
