Kyrgyzstan bans wheat and flour exports for 6 months

Kyrgyzstan has introduced a temporary ban on the export of wheat flour and food wheat grain for a period of 6 months, starting September 22, Turanews.kz reports.

The decision was made by the Cabinet of Ministers and signed by Chairman Akylbek Zhaparov. The resolution states that the ban is necessary to ensure food security and stabilize market prices for food products.

The ban is also likely to have an impact on neighboring countries that rely on imports of wheat and wheat flour from Kyrgyzstan. However, the Kyrgyz government has said that the ban is temporary and will be lifted once the food security situation has improved.
