On May 21, Traditional Kazakh dishes were served to the guests at the festival, which started with the singing of the national anthems of Türkiye and Kazakhstan, held at the Kazakh Obasi in Ankara.
Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Ankara Yerkebulan Sapiyev, TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev, Kazakhs living in Türkiye and many guests attended the festival, which was held for the first time outside of Kazakhstan.
In his speech here, TURKSOY Secretary General Raev said: “Today, we are excited to organize such a festival for the first time in order to introduce you to our delicious kumis drink, which is the common tradition of the Turkic World.”
Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Ankara Sapiyev pointed out that kumis is an important part of Turkish culture and said, “This festival is being held outside of Kazakhstan for the first time and is celebrated in Ankara, the heart of Anatolia.” he said.
Indicating that the Kumis Fest is actually a holiday in Kazakhstan, Sapiyev said that they wish the festival to be held every year.
After the speeches, certificates of appreciation and gifts were presented to the participants.
During the festival, The process of preparing kumis was explained live to the participants and Kazakhstan handicrafts, music and dance performances were performed.
