Kazakhstan’s Capital to Host World’s Top Young Biologists
Astana is set to become the center stage for the most prestigious international biology Olympiad for schoolchildren, IBO-2024, scheduled from July 7 to 14. The Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan announced that 330 young biologists from 80 countries will converge in Astana to compete for the coveted title.
The IBO-2024 scientific committee has crafted tasks for two rounds, comprising theoretical and practical components. These tasks cover various domains of biology, including cellular and molecular biology, anatomy and physiology of animals and humans, genetics and evolution, ecology, among others.
Gazdembek Tursunov, director of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center “Daryn,” remarked, “Astana will be hosting the 35th world-class competition in 2024. This decision by the international organizing committee underscores Kazakhstan’s successful integration into the global educational arena.”
The International Biology Olympiad offers a platform for schoolchildren to showcase their intellectual prowess and demonstrate their knowledge on a global platform.
In addition to the competition, programs are scheduled for participants and managers. They will engage in seminars and conferences aimed at professional exchange and discussions on Olympiad-related topics. The Olympiad itself will be held at the premises of Nazarbayev University.
