Kazakhstan is set to expand its satellite internet market with the entry of two additional foreign operators, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry Zhaslan Madiev said, according to inbusiness.kz.
He noted that satellite connectivity remains a key solution for providing internet access to remote and hard-to-reach areas across the country. Currently, three operators offer satellite internet services in Kazakhstan, but this number is expected to grow.
According to Madiev, pilot projects involving the two international companies are scheduled to be launched in 2026. He also announced that satellite internet access will be introduced this year on Kazakhstan Temir Zholy trains and aboard Air Astana aircraft.
The minister added that local authorities are expected to finance satellite internet coverage in tourist destinations lacking conventional communication infrastructure, using regional budget resources.
