Kazakhstan Prepares for the 5th World Nomad Games with Homegrown Archery Equipment

Kazakhstan is gearing up for the 5th World Nomad Games, set to take place in Astana, with more than 200 archers from 35 countries competing in traditional archery events. This year's Games hold special significance for the Kazakhstani team, which will be using domestically produced arrows.

Dias Akhmetov, head coach of the national archery team, highlighted the tough competition expected from strong opponents like Türkiye, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, as well as teams from France, Italy, Spain, China, Thailand, and Iran. “We are confident in our preparation and will strive for medals,” Akhmetov said.

For the first time, Kazakhstani-made arrows from the “Altyn Zhebe” workshop will be used in the competition. “Previously, we relied on imported equipment from Türkiye, Hungary, and Russia. But now we are proud to use arrows made right here in Kazakhstan,” said Yerbol Tapenov, a member of the national team. Over 2,000 units of these arrows, produced to international standards, have been prepared for the Games.

The Kazakhstani team, comprising 10 athletes, is intensively training with this locally produced gear, showcasing confidence in the quality of domestic products, according to the Press Service of the “Center for National and Equestrian Sports.”

The World Nomad Games will not only be a sporting event but also a cultural gathering aimed at uniting nations and promoting the growth of ethnosports across the globe.
