Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan Sign Roadmap to Deepen Cooperation in Standardization and Metrology

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have taken a significant step toward closer cooperation in technical regulation and standardization.

A high-level meeting was held at the Committee for Technical Regulation and Metrology under Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Trade and Integration, with the participation of a delegation from the Uzbek Agency for Technical Regulation under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan.

During the discussions, both parties explored key areas of collaboration, including technical regulation, conformity assessment, and metrology. Special emphasis was placed on improving cooperation in conformity assessment, including the operation of the Information Center on Technical Barriers to Trade and Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures, and strengthening state control mechanisms.

The talks also focused on harmonizing national standards with international and regional norms, exchanging legal practices, and aligning regulatory frameworks. Both sides expressed a mutual interest in continuing the convergence of technical standards and policies.

A key outcome of the meeting was the signing of a Joint Action Plan for 2025–2026 between the Kazakhstan Institute of Standardization and Metrology (KazStandard) and the Uzbek Center for Scientific Testing and Quality Control. The agreement outlines concrete steps for enhancing practical cooperation, knowledge exchange, and raising product and service quality in line with global standards.

Both Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing dialogue and expressed confidence that the new roadmap would serve as an important milestone in strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of standardization and technical regulation.
