President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan was present at the grand opening of the “Games of the Future,” where he watched the proceedings from the official podium. Following the rendition of the Russian national anthem, President Vladimir Putin officially inaugurated the games, as reported by Akorda.
President Tokayev took the opportunity to address the participants of the tournament, expressing his gratitude to President Putin for organizing the unique event. He hailed the Future Games as unparalleled in the modern world and extended his best wishes to all participants. President Tokayev also proposed hosting the next edition of the games in Kazakhstan.
Leaders from Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan also conveyed their well-wishes to the cybersport athletes. The opening ceremony featured a vibrant parade of flags representing the participating countries.
The Future Games, characterized by the “phygital concept,” combine physical activity, modern technology, and the digital environment. The tournament encompasses a wide range of competitive disciplines grouped into five challenges: sports, strategy, tactics, technology, and speed. More than 2,000 participants from over 100 countries are expected to compete, with Kazakhstan fielding representatives in 13 disciplines.
Following the ceremony, President Tokayev and other visiting dignitaries toured the Kazan Expo complex, the primary venue for the Future Games. The tour included visits to various facilities such as the Dota 2 congress hall, art installations, and a “phygital laboratory,” showcasing innovative concepts blending physical culture and esports.
During the tour, President Tokayev interacted with young athletes participating in the Football for Friendship program, underscoring Kazakhstan’s unwavering support for children’s sports initiatives. Among the participants was 10-year-old Zhan Ali Ermagambetov, a member of FC Astana’s youth team.
President Tokayev emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting children’s sports in Kazakhstan during the exchange with the young athletes.
