Kazakh citizens lose 7 billion tenge to internet fraudsters
Kazakhstan has recorded approximately 12,000 instances of Internet fraud schemes since the start of the year, the official representative of Kazakh Ministry of Internal Affairs Shugyla Turlybek announced at a briefing. She added that Internet fraudsters caused damage worth seven billion tenge. As a result of police operations, 571 Internet fraudsters were detained and the activities of 17 criminal groups were halted. Experts calculated that Nur-Sultan, Almaty and Karagandy region account for the majority of the above-mentioned crimes. To protect citizens from fraud, the relevant ministry notified the population via SMS messages.
