Iran Temporarily Halts Uranium Enrichment After US Strikes, Vows Not to Abandon Program

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed that the country has temporarily suspended its uranium enrichment efforts following U.S. airstrikes on nuclear sites but emphasized that Tehran views the program as a matter of national pride and has no intention of giving it up.

“The process is currently on hold due to significant damage, but since it’s a scientific achievement and a point of pride for our nation, we will not abandon it,” Araghchi told Fox News.

He added that Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization is assessing the extent of the damage and the status of enriched uranium stocks.

NBC News previously reported that one Iranian facility was damaged, although the White House denied the claim. According to CNN, U.S. intelligence believes the strikes did not eliminate critical components of Iran’s nuclear program but may have delayed it by a few months.

On June 25, President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that facilities in Isfahan, Natanz, and Fordow were “effectively destroyed.” U.S. officials believe Iran failed to remove nuclear materials before the attacks.
