In Bishkek, Cryptocurrency Traders Nabbed for Drug Sales via Telegram

Authorities in Bishkek have apprehended individuals operating cryptocurrency "exchangers" that were facilitating the sale of synthetic drugs through the popular messaging app Telegram.

The State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic announced the detention of the cryptocurrency “exchangers” owners, who were allegedly aiding in the distribution of synthetic drugs.

During investigative operations, a group of individuals involved in “crypto-exchanging” was arrested. A substantial amount of evidence, including numerous bank cards, mobile phones, SIM cards, and the synthetic drug “mephedrone,” was seized.

“Five Kyrgyzstan citizens, engaged in illicit drug trafficking and providing intermediary services via ‘crypto exchangers,’ have been apprehended. They have been placed in the temporary detention center of the State Committee for National Security,” stated the press release.

Efforts are ongoing to identify and dismantle drug distribution networks, along with prosecuting individuals facilitating such illegal activities.
