Hungary Abolishes Income Tax for Mothers with Children

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced this on his social media account.

Women in Hungary will no longer have to pay income tax if they have children:

  • Mothers with one child are exempt from income tax until they turn 30.
  • Mothers with two or more children will never pay income tax again.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced this on his social media account, stating:

“Hungary is making history with the largest tax cut in Europe & the entire Western world! We are building the world’s first family-centred economy.”

Previously, it was reported that these tax changes would come into effect in 2026, the same year as Hungary’s next parliamentary elections, scheduled for spring 2026.
