Historic Meeting in Istanbul: Erdoğan and Pashinyan Discuss Regional Peace

On June 20, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan hosted Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Istanbul, marking a significant moment in Türkiye-Armenia relations. The meeting took place at the Dolmabahçe Palace during Pashinyan’s first official visit to Türkiye.

The two leaders discussed ways to normalize ties between their countries, promote regional stability, and address the evolving geopolitical landscape of the South Caucasus. President Erdoğan emphasized the importance of the peace talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia, expressing Türkiye’s full support for diplomatic efforts to resolve regional tensions.

Highlighting rising tensions between Iran and Israel, Erdoğan also warned of potential dangers to broader regional peace and called for proactive dialogue to prevent escalation.

Pashinyan, writing on social media after the meeting, noted that both sides exchanged views on normalization, lasting dialogue, and cooperation. He reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to peaceful solutions and regional cooperation.
