Foreign Tourist Arrivals Surge by 37% in Kazakhstan in the First 9 Months of 2023

The number of foreign tourists arriving in Kazakhstan has witnessed a significant increase of 37% during the first nine months of 2023. According to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a total of 834.9 thousand foreign tourists explored the country from January to September this year. This marks an impressive growth of 225 thousand people compared to the same period last year when 609.8 thousand foreigners visited Kazakhstan, TuraNews.kz reports.

In addition to the rise in international tourism, domestic tourism has also experienced a notable uptick. Over the first nine months of 2023, the number of domestic tourists availing accommodation services increased to 553 thousand individuals, demonstrating a significant growth compared to the same period in 2022, which stood at 5.4 million people. Notably, this figure surpasses the pre-pandemic levels of 1.3 million people recorded during the first nine months of 2019.

Commenting on this positive development, Nurtas Karipbayev, Acting Chairman of the Industry and Tourism Committee at the Republic of Kazakhstan Ministry of Tourism and Sports, stated, “In recent years, there has been a growing interest in Kazakhstan among tourists from all over the world. More than 800 thousand foreigners visited our country this year, and by the end of the year, we expect this number to increase to 1.4 million. This fact confirms the attractiveness of our natural beauty, cultural heritage, and hospitality. We are working to make Kazakhstan even more attractive for tourists and provide them with unforgettable experiences in our country.” The increased influx of both international and domestic tourists underscores the growing appeal of Kazakhstan as a tourist destination.
