Erdogan: SCO is an Important Platform for Dialogue with Asian Countries
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke at the Summit of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Astana. During the SCO+ meeting at the Palace of Independence, he highlighted the importance of the organization for international dialogue and cooperation.
Erdogan mentioned that global security is under threat from several factors, such as viewing Islam as an enemy, food security issues, and transport barriers. He specifically addressed the situation in Gaza, stating that the Israeli attack had resulted in the deaths of nearly 40,000 innocent people, including thousands of children. The Turkish President called for international efforts to stop this violence and restore justice.
Erdogan also expressed Türkiye’s interest in strengthening its dialogue with the SCO to fight terrorism. He pointed out that millions of people have become refugees due to terrorist attacks, and emphasized that about 4 million refugees are currently living in Türkiye.
At the end of his speech, Erdogan expressed Türkiye’s readiness to develop mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas with Central Asian countries. He emphasized that the SCO offers excellent opportunities for this dialogue.
