Elena Rybakina Advances to Miami Open Final for Second Consecutive Year

Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan has secured her place in the final of the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami for the second year running.

In a thrilling semi-final encounter, Rybakina, the top-ranked player from Kazakhstan, triumphed over two-time Grand Slam champion Victoria Azarenka of Belarus, ranked 32nd in the WTA, with a scoreline of 6-4, 0-6, 7-6 (7-2).

The match lasted for 2 hours and 33 minutes, during which Rybakina displayed her prowess with 11 consecutive serves. Despite facing three double faults, she managed to convert two out of 11 break points.

This marks Rybakina’s fourth final appearance of the season, having previously clinched titles in Brisbane and Abu Dhabi. However, she fell short in the final of the Doha WTA 1000 event, losing to the world number one, Iga Šwiętek.

In the Miami Open final scheduled for March 30, Rybakina will face the winner of the match between Ekaterina Alexandrova of Russia and Danielle Collins of the United States, setting the stage for an exciting showdown in the women’s singles category.
