ECO Tourism Forum to Take Place in Historic Shakhrisabz, Uzbekistan

Shakhrisabz, a historic city in southern Uzbekistan, is set to host a forum gathering representatives from the tourism industry of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) countries.

The forum will facilitate bilateral and multilateral meetings involving officials and tourism industry representatives from member countries. Discussions will cover various topics including industry development, infrastructure enhancement, ecotourism, ethnotourism, and tourism entrepreneurship, with a focus on engaging youth and showcasing regional achievements.

Highlights of the program include the International Folk Festival featuring folklore groups from ECO member countries, a Modest Fashion Show competition for young designers, the Shakhrisabz Culinary Duel with renowned chefs, the International Ethnosports Games festival, and an exhibition showcasing the results of a plein air event featuring leading foreign and local artists.

The forum is expected to draw participation from the ECO Secretariat leadership, tourism department heads and specialists from member countries, distinguished guests, and media representatives.

Notably, during the IV meeting of tourism ministers of ECO member countries on December 13, 2022, Shakhrisabz was designated as the tourism capital of the Economic Cooperation Organization for 2024.
