China’s Xinjiang Struck by 7.1 Magnitude Earthquake Amidst Series of Quakes

Prior to this event, at 12:01 (07:01 Moscow time), CCTV, citing seismologists, had reported a magnitude 4.7 earthquake in Wushi County, Aksu Prefecture, Xinjiang.

In the past 24 hours, northwest China has experienced a series of seismic events, with the most significant being a magnitude 7.1 earthquake striking the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

China Central Television (CCTV) reported that the Chinese seismological network recorded a magnitude 4 earthquake in Xinjiang at 12:25 local time (07:25 Moscow time). Experts indicate that the depth of the seismic activity was approximately 10 kilometers.

Prior to this event, at 12:01 (07:01 Moscow time), CCTV, citing seismologists, had reported a magnitude 4.7 earthquake in Wushi County, Aksu Prefecture, Xinjiang.

Meanwhile, around 00:09, a separate earthquake with a magnitude of 6.7 had occurred in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Residents of the Kazakh capital reported experiencing three waves of tremors.
