Boston Dynamics Unveils Upgraded Electric Atlas Robot

Boston Dynamics Unveils Next-Generation Atlas Humanoid Robot

Boston Dynamics has introduced a new generation of electric-powered Atlas robots, a departure from the previous hydraulic-driven model. This updated version, along with the Stretch robotic arm and Spot robotic dog, will be commercially available, with Hyundai being the first client slated to test the humanoid robot in automotive production facilities starting in 2025.

The decision to transition to an all-electric Atlas comes after the previous hydraulic model reached its operational limits, particularly in handling heavy and irregularly shaped objects. While the company bid farewell to the hydraulic model in mid-April, they have since introduced a stronger electric version.

Although still in its early stages, the updated Atlas represents a significant advancement. However, details regarding availability and pricing for commercial clients remain unspecified.

In a previous development, engineers from Tver had created a combat robot in the shape of a hamburger.
