Bishkek plans to launch a taxi service on electric cars
Bishkek City Hall plans to launch a city taxi service on electric cars. The mayor Emilbek Abdykadyrov told about this issue an interview with the Kabar agency.
According to him, the project began to be developed as part of measures to combat smog.
“We have begun negotiations with several investors about the introduction of a taxi service on electric cars. It would be nice to start with at least 500 cars. So we could invite the drivers who taxi in Bishkek to transfer to new cars,” Abdykadyrov said.
At the same time, he noted that municipal specialists are also preparing a proposal on catalysts, which will be finalized jointly with the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and then submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers.
“Taxi services are mainly provided by visitors from the regions. No one monitors them in terms of safety, cleanliness, qualifications of drivers and the condition of their cars. Their compliance with the technical requirements for transporting passengers raises many questions,” the mayor added.
