Azerbaijan Urges Armenia to Swiftly Resume Peace Treaty Negotiations
Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry has issued a call to Armenia, urging the swift resumption of negotiations to finalize a peace treaty, TuraNews.kz reports.
Expressing concern over the approximately two and a half months it took for Armenia to respond to Azerbaijan’s proposals on the draft peace treaty, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry contends that such delays significantly undermine the negotiation process. The current impasse, they argue, hampers the potential for stability and prosperity in the region.
Azerbaijan, in an effort to expedite the peace process, expresses readiness for direct bilateral negotiations with Armenia. Emphasizing the importance of both countries jointly deciding their future relationship, the Foreign Ministry stresses that the responsibility for advancing the peace process lies with both nations. This includes decisions on a mutually agreeable meeting location or the option to convene at the state border.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan calls on Armenia to avoid unnecessary delays and anticipates a positive response to the plea for an early resumption of negotiations.
