Astana Hosts International Roundtable Honoring 180th Anniversary of Abai Kunanbaiuly
An international roundtable titled “Love All Mankind as Your Brother” took place at the National Academic Library of Kazakhstan in Astana to mark the 180th anniversary of Abai Kunanbaiuly, the renowned Kazakh poet and philosopher.

The event gathered scholars and cultural figures from Kazakhstan, Russia, Türkiye, Hungary, and CIS countries. Participants explored Abai’s philosophical ideas, their relevance to today’s world, and his global literary recognition through UNESCO and translations into multiple languages.
Rustam Ali, Chair of the Committee for Archives and Publishing, noted that over 300 events are scheduled across Kazakhstan, including 7 international and 44 national-level celebrations. National libraries alone will host 22 programs.
By year’s end, several new books dedicated to Abai’s works and legacy will be published and distributed to regional libraries, including “Abai: Poems and Epics”, and academic analyses of his worldview and characters.
