Astana celebrates World Autism Awareness Day

More than 200 parents of children with autism and other developmental disabilities took part in the event

The motivational meeting “Autism Talks: inspiring stories of parents of special children” was held in Astana with attend of more than 200 parents of children with autism and other developmental disabilities, Turanews.kz reports.

The meeting which was organized by the “Bolashak” corporate foundation is timed to coincide with the World Autism Awareness Day.

Since 2008, various information campaigns and actions have been held all over the world on April 2. The initiative of mass informing the public is gaining huge support from Kazakh social networks and media.

According to the offical data, it was stated more than 9,000 children with autism officially live across the country. However, it’s believed that the number of children with autism, it exceeds 30,000.

According to the international organization Autism Speaks for 2020, one in 54 children in the world are diagnosed with autism.

Autisim manifests itself in early childhood and is independent of gender, race, or socioeconomic status.

It is characterized by a tendency to ritual behavior, difficulties in everyday communication, social interaction. However, children with autism can do well in school and participate in society. To make this possible, it is necessary to provide the child with the help of qualified specialists from an early age.
