Astana airport unveils the contactless biometric terminal

The Q-gate terminals allow passengers to complete whole checking process less than 15 seconds

At Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport, now Kazakhstani passengers will be able to pass border control through special terminals in less than fifteen seconds, Turanews.kz reports citing the press service of the airport.

Gates for contactless border control have been installed at Astana airport. Special terminals are located in the departure and arrival area of international flights next to the passport control area.

The Q-Gate multibiometric terminal is a product entirely made in Kazakhstan by Regate Technologies. Now there is no need for air passengers to stand in queues for a long time. The whole process of passport control takes no more than 15 seconds. The terminal allows you to competently manage the passenger flow of the airport in real time. Automates the processes of passing all inspection formalities.

The terminal is already popular with air passengers. In 2022, more than 6,000 citizens of Kazakhstan were missed. To pass through the terminal, you must attach the original passport of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the document scanner. Then, if requested by the system, scan the barcode on a paper or electronic boarding pass. Be sure to look into the face recognition camera, wait for the second door to open and exit the terminal.

All citizens can use the terminal with the exception of:

1) foreign citizens and persons who do not have a passport of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

2) persons under the age of 18 (parents must accompany their children to the passport control booth);

3) people with disabilities traveling in a wheelchair.

You can only pass through the terminal one at a time. Passage with small animals is allowed if they are in a special carrier. Before identification, it is necessary to remove all items covering the face (masks, glasses, hats, scarves, etc.), as well as pull the passport out of the case to avoid incorrect reading.
