Armenia to Abstain from Financing CSTO Activities in 2024
Armenia has declared its decision to abstain from funding the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in 2024. Concurrently, Yerevan has signaled its willingness to refrain from obstructing the adoption of the CSTO budget for 2024 in a restricted capacity.
Ani Badalyan, the Press Secretary of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, conveyed this announcement to local media outlets.
“The Republic of Armenia will withhold its endorsement of the CSTO Collective Security Council’s decision dated November 23, 2023, regarding the CSTO budget for 2024. Consequently, Armenia will not partake in financing the Organization’s activities as stipulated by this decision. Nevertheless, Yerevan will not interpose objections to the approval of this decision in a limited framework,” remarked Ani Badalyan, the Press Secretary of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had proclaimed the suspension of Armenia’s involvement in the CSTO.
