Armenia Renounces Financial Obligations to the CSTO

The Armenian Foreign Ministry announced that the country has no financial obligations to the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

Armenia has officially informed the CSTO secretariat that it will not sign the organization’s 2024 budget, effectively ending its financial commitments to the CSTO. This information was provided by the Republic’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in response to a request from the local portal Factor.am.

“The Republic of Armenia officially notified the CSTO Secretariat that it would refrain from signing the decision of the CSTO ‘On the CSTO Budget 2024’ and participating in the financing of the organization’s activities provided for by the decision. Consequently, the Republic of Armenia did not undertake any obligations regarding the financing provided for by the said decision,” stated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Previously, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that Moscow assumes Yerevan retains financial obligations according to the CSTO Charter.
