Almaty Hosts Concert Honoring 100th Anniversary of Nurgisa Tlendiyev

On April 13, 2025, the Kazakh National Orchestra of Folk Instruments named after Kurmangazy held a special off-site concert in Almaty to mark the 100th anniversary of People’s Hero and renowned composer Nurgisa Tlendiyev.

The full ensemble of the orchestra participated, joined by celebrated performers Takhaui Rakhmetov and Bibigul Kylimkhan. The concert aimed to spark greater interest among Almaty residents and visitors in Kazakhstan’s national music heritage.

Tlendiyev, a legendary kyushi and composer, is hailed for his invaluable contribution to Kazakh musical culture. His legacy is now being celebrated globally, with 2025 officially declared the “Year of Nurgisa Tlendiyev” by the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TÜRKSOY), under the auspices of UNESCO.

The commemorative concert series began on January 24, and cultural events will continue throughout the year.
