Akylbek Zhaparov : Kyrgyzstan on track for sustainable development
The 7th International Economic Forum Issyk-Kul 2023 was held in the Kyrgyz city of Cholpon-Ata on July 27. The forum was attended by about 400 entrepreneurs from Kazakhstan, Russia, China, Uzbekistan, and a number of other countries, Turanews.kz reports.
During the forum, the head of the Kyrgyz cabinet of ministers, Akylbek Zhaparov, announced that Kyrgyzstan had achieved the best result in terms of achieving sustainable development goals among all the countries of Central Asia.
“Despite the crises, world experts emphasize that Kyrgyzstan is on the path of sustainable development,” Zhaparov said. “We were convinced of this in 2022: we managed to achieve an economic growth rate of 7%. In the ranking of countries for achieving sustainable development goals, Kyrgyzstan confidently took 45th place out of 166 countries, leading in Central Asia. For us, this is a high figure, which indicates the right direction of development, determined by the president of the country.”
Zhaparov also stressed that the cooperative ties of states in the economic sphere can bring positive results for all participants.
“I invite you to cooperate with Kyrgyzstan,” he said. “It is gratifying that the relations of friendship and cooperation between our countries, established during the heyday of the Great Silk Road, are preserved and developed in new historical conditions. The site of the Issyk-Kul Forum is also a kind of contribution to its development.”
The forum resulted in the signing of 11 agreements worth more than $2 billion, including the construction by a consortium of Chinese companies in Kyrgyzstan on the Naryn River of the Kazarmansky cascade of 4 HPPs with a total capacity of 1,160 MW.
