88 Kyrgyz yurts have been installed in the disaster zone in Türkiye
Residents of the region who suffered from the earthquake will be placed in yurts on the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
In the Goksun district of the Turkish province of Kahramanmaras which suffered from the devastating February earthquakes, a town made of traditional Kyrgyz yurts will be built.
The 88 Kyrgyz yurts, installed in a specially designated place in the Yeni region, provide all the details for the comfort of the victims of the earthquake.
Inside the Kyrgyz yurt, there is also a heater, a sink and a shower cabin. Yurt keeps warm in winter and cool in summer heat, there is ventilation.
Residents of the region who suffered from the earthquake will begin to accommodate in yurts today – on the first day of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
On the territory of the tent camp, places have been created where hot meals are distributed and cultural events are held.
The deputy head of the Gungoren Municipality, Ali Furkan Sevinc said that the Gungoren municipality has started work in the disaster zone in accordance with the needs of the region. First of all, 24 containers were installed, and infrastructure work in the Ericek region was also completed, Sevinch said.
“With the support of the World Ethnosport Confederation, we started installing Kyrgyz yurts. The work took about a month. This section employed 45 people. Our head of the municipality was here for 35 days and supervised the work. Thanks to the Kyrgyz yurts, we have equipped here a wonderful living space for the victims of the earthquake,” said Sevinc.
According to him, along with 88 Kyrgyz yurts, 2 tents for events were set up on the territory of the town.
“The campus is designed for approximately 600 people. During Ramadan, theatrical performances and puppet shows will be held here. We wanted to create such conditions for the victims of the earthquake, so that they could escape from their problems a little, return to their usual life. All our efforts were aimed at this,” added Sevinc.
