69-Year-Old Student from Türkiye Enrolls in Kazakhstan to Learn Kazakh

Kadriye Işıklı, a 69-year-old woman from Türkiye, has joined Akhmet Yasawi University in Turkestan to study the Kazakh language and immerse herself in the local culture.

Kadrie Ishykly is from Istanbul and mother of three, has enrolled at the Khoja Ahmed Yasawi International Kazakh-Turkish University in Turkistan to study the Kazakh language and immerse herself in local culture.

As a student in the university’s Preparatory Center, Kadrie has become the oldest student in the institution’s history, serving as an inspiration to younger generations.

Motivated by her interest in Turkic nations, their cultures, and traditions, Kadrie decided to pursue her studies in Turkistan. In just six weeks, she has made remarkable progress in understanding the Kazakh language.

“I am currently learning Kazakh. I enjoy exploring the culture of Turkic countries. My goal here is to learn Kazakh, experience the culture, and later visit other brotherly nations,” Kadrie shared.

Kadrie previously earned a degree in Tourism in Türkiye and has traveled to nearly 20 countries. Now, she aims to deepen her knowledge of Central Asia. She plans to continue her studies in Tourism at Khoja Ahmed Yasawi University to further her understanding of the region.
