2024 will be Türkiye-Hungary joint year of culture

2024 will be celebrated as the Turkish-Hungarian Cultural Year with the theme of "Hundred Years of Friendship and Cooperation" on the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of the entry into force of the Turkish-Hungarian Friendship Agreement of 1923.

At meeting of Hungarian Minister of Foreign and Foreign Trade Peter Szijarto in Budapest anf Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Cavusoğlu, they stated that they came to a desicion to raise the level of “strategic partnership” with Hungary to the level of “developed strategic partnership”.

Pointing out that the bilateral trade volume is approaching 3.5 billion dollars and that there is a potential to take this figure further, Turkish Minister Cavusoglu said that Turkish investors’ interest in Hungary increased in recent years. The investment, which is currently around 800 million dollars, will increase to 3 billion dollars in 2 years, according to the information that we received from our ambassador in here . Likewise, we see that Hungarian companies’ investments in Türkiye are increasing.” he said.

In additon, Noted out that 2024 will be Türkiye-Hungary joint year of cultur Turkish Minister Cavusoglu thanked to Hungarian side for their support and contrucition to the works of Organization of Turkic States.

Two countries has cooperation on culture and education fields. Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Centre (YETKM) in Budapest and Hungarian Cultural Centre Liszt Institute in Istanbul contribute to improvement of this cooperation. There are Turcology and Hungarology Departments in selected Universities of both countries.
