Within the framework of the International Energy Forum “UEW 2026” in Tashkent, a trilateral meeting was held between energy department representatives of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan. The parties discussed the current implementation status of the “Green Corridor Alliance” project, aimed at developing the production and transmission of “green” energy among Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan, according to the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan was represented at the forum by Vice Minister of Energy Bakytzhan Ilyas. During the meeting, Bakytzhan Ilyas noted that the agreement signed by the heads of the three states on the sidelines of the COP29 conference in Baku establishes the foundation for forming a sustainable energy corridor and expanding the trade of environmentally clean electricity.
The project involves the efficient use of renewable energy potential, the development of inter-system energy links, and the creation of conditions for exporting “green” electricity to Europe and other regions. Special attention was paid to expanding existing energy infrastructure and developing new power transmission lines necessary for the integration of the energy systems of Central Asia and the South Caucasus.
Kazakhstan delegation emphasized that on April 27, 2026, the President Tokayev signed the law ratifying this agreement, confirming the country’s commitment to developing sustainable and interconnected energy infrastructure in the region. The meeting participants confirmed their interest in further promoting the project and continuing to coordinate joint actions for the development of the trans-regional “green” energy corridor.
