President Tokayev Meets with Yasutoshi Nishimura, Chairman of the Japan-Kazakhstan Parliamentary Friendship League

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated Yasutoshi Nishimura on his appointment as Chairman of the Parliamentary Friendship League, emphasizing that Japan remains a key partner for Kazakhstan in Asia.

During the meeting, they reviewed the progress of agreements reached during last year’s official visit to Tokyo, which included over 60 business agreements totaling 3.7 billion dollars.

The Head of State noted that preparations have already begun for the next “Central Asia + Japan” Dialogue summit, which will be hosted in Astana next year. In addition to economic ties, Tokayev highlighted the growing cultural interest in Japanese sports, specifically mentioning the success of Kazakh sumo wrestler Ersin Baltagul (Kinbozan Haruki).

Yasutoshi Nishimura reaffirmed the Japanese Parliament’s commitment to strengthening multi-faceted cooperation with Kazakhstan.
