President Tokayev Announces New Date for Constitution Day

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced that Kazakhstan will celebrate Constitution Day on a new date — March 15.

The statement was made during a meeting with young citizens who actively participated in the recent national referendum, according to the press service of Akorda.

Tokayev emphasized the historical significance of the referendum day, noting that it will now be commemorated annually as the country’s Constitution Day.

The president highlighted that the updated Basic Law incorporates modern priorities, including provisions related to volunteerism, scientific development, innovation and artificial intelligence.

He also pointed out that a large-scale public information campaign had been conducted ahead of the referendum. Looking ahead, Tokayev said the country will soon prepare for parliamentary elections scheduled for the summer, expressing hope that the future legislature will strongly represent the younger generation.
