200,000 Teachers in Kazakhstan to Join ChatGPT Edu Initiative

Around 200,000 teachers in Kazakhstan will be involved in the ChatGPT Edu pilot program designed to integrate artificial intelligence into the education system.
The initiative, prepared by the Ministry of Education of Kazakhstan, aims to help educators reduce routine workloads while improving the quality of teaching and learning.
As part of the broader digital transformation of education, the National Educational Database is being upgraded on the QazTech platform. It will serve as a unified storage system for electronic diaries and digital student profiles. Authorities also plan to launch a National Education Platform that will integrate all services and public functions in the sector.
Under the memorandum, 100,000 licenses of ChatGPT Edu have been allocated. These include 5,000 for preschool institutions, 85,000 for schools and 10,000 for colleges. In the second half of the year, the program will expand to another 100,000 educators.
The AI assistant will help teachers prepare lesson plans, design assignments and tests, adapt materials for students with different learning levels and generate content in Kazakh, Russian and English. It will also support educators in explaining complex topics, creating assessment criteria and analyzing student work, while final grading decisions will remain with teachers.
Officials say the initiative will strengthen teachers’ digital competencies and promote the use of modern teaching practices.
