Central Asian Energy and Water Officials Meet in Tashkent

Senior officials responsible for energy and water management from Central Asian countries convened in Tashkent to discuss regional cooperation and system stability.

The meeting brought together Kazakhstan’s Vice Minister of Energy Yerlan Akkenzhenov, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Energy Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov and Minister of Water Resources Shavkat Khamroev, Kyrgyzstan’s Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibraev, and Tajikistan’s Minister of Energy and Water Resources Daler Juma, according to UzA.

Executives and experts from national energy companies also took part in the talks, which focused on strengthening regional energy security and ensuring the resilience of power systems during periods of peak seasonal demand.

Particular attention was paid to coordinated efforts ahead of the autumn-winter season and to maintaining the uninterrupted operation of water and energy systems during the vegetation period. Participants emphasized that multilateral cooperation initiated at the level of heads of state has already contributed to greater stability in the fuel and energy sector.

Following the discussions, the parties agreed to develop new joint action programs aimed at enhancing regional energy security, improving water resource management and aligning operational schedules across national grids.
