The number of cashless transactions in Tajikistan rose sharply over the past year, according to the National Bank of Tajikistan. Compared to 2024, the volume of such operations increased by 47%, reflecting the country’s accelerating shift toward digital payments.
Data from the regulator show that more than 136 million non-cash transactions were carried out via bank cards and electronic wallets, totaling 42.4 billion somoni. In annual terms, the number of transactions grew by 47.1%, while their overall value expanded by 39.8%.
Despite the growth, cash withdrawals still dominate, accounting for 70.6% of all transactions, while cashless payments make up 29.4%. At the same time, the share of non-cash operations increased by 3.2 percentage points over the year.
In December 2025 alone, the proportion of cashless payments reached 38.9%, up 9.4 percentage points compared to the same period in 2024, signaling a steady expansion of digital financial services across the country.
