Kazakhstan’s top-ranked player Elena Rybakina has advanced to the final of the Australian Open in Melbourne and will compete for the Grand Slam title.
In the semifinals, Rybakina defeated American star Jessica Pegula in straight sets, 6–3, 7–6 (9–7). The second set proved particularly intense, with the outcome decided in a dramatic tie-break.
This marks Rybakina’s second appearance in an Australian Open final. Three years ago, she also contended for the Melbourne title.
In the championship match, she will face Belarusian world-class player Aryna Sabalenka.
