Putin: No Obstacles in Developing Relations with Kazakhstan

Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed that relations between Russia and Kazakhstan remain strong and free of obstacles.

Speaking during a meeting with global media leaders at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Putin described the bilateral relationship as “truly special.”

“We share a deep alliance with Kazakhstan — not just diplomatically, but historically and culturally. Our common past, the years we lived within one state, and the personal and humanitarian ties between our peoples are all vital factors,” he noted.

Putin also highlighted Kazakhstan’s membership in major regional alliances such as the CSTO, the Eurasian Economic Union, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, saying these platforms bolster bilateral cooperation.

“Our shared border is the longest land border in the world — and that alone makes cooperation a natural necessity,” he said.

Stressing there are “absolutely no barriers” to relations, Putin stated: “Kazakhstan is one of our closest partners. It’s our ally. I see no issue at all that could hinder the development of our ties.”

He added that dialogue with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is ongoing and warm, with frequent mutual visits and active communication between the two governments and foreign ministries.
