Preparations have begun for events to be held in Aktau, the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2025
On February 7, 2025, a meeting dedicated to the "Aktau - Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2025" program was held in Aktau under the chairmanship of TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev and Mangystau Region Governor Nurdaulet Kilybay.

The meeting, attended by institutions responsible for the city’s cultural and artistic life and the TURKSOY delegation, discussed the events that will take place in Aktau within the framework of this cultural event.
About 500 artists from all over the Turkic world will take part in the opening ceremony, which will take place in April, and during which more than 30 international projects will be organized.
“Preparations for the grand opening are underway”
The opening of the cultural capital of the Turkic world, which will be held in an open area in the city, which is considered one of the regions with high tourism potential in Kazakhstan on the coast of the Caspian Sea, will bring together art lovers of the Turkic world. Within the framework of the festive event, which will be attended by more than 500 international artists, a special ethno-village will be built on the shore of the Caspian Sea for the opening. Visitors to the village will have the opportunity to feel the common culture and traditions of the Turkic people, as well as get acquainted with the historical heritage of Mangystau, traditional crafts and local life.
TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev: “Aktau is a unique city with tourism potential”
During the organizing council meeting, Secretary General Sultan Raev noted that Aktau attracts attention with its uniqueness among the cultural capitals of the Turkic world, and said: “This year’s cultural capital is a special city of Kazakhstan on the Caspian coast. There are features that distinguish Aktau from our previous cultural capitals. The festivals that we will hold in this city will not only be held as events, but will also contribute to the formation and recognition of the city as a tourist destination,” he said.
Mangystau Region Governor Nurdaulet Kilybay, in turn, emphasized the importance of the “Cultural Capital of the Turkic World” program and stated that he attaches importance to the high level of events:
“This project, which aims to strengthen the spiritual ties of the Turkic world, is a great honor and responsibility for us. We must introduce our guests to our national culture and traditions as much as possible and announce the common values of the Turkic peoples to the world from Aktau. We will make the most of this opportunity and fully demonstrate the potential of our region on the international stage,” he said.
Events that unite the Turkic world
Within the framework of the “Aktau – Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2025” events, a wide range of events will be organized, such as theater, cinema, opera, dance, traditional art, meetings of poets, meetings of artists, a festival of artisans, historical and academic conferences, conversations with writers, memorial meetings. The events that will take place in Aktau within the framework of the “Cultural Capital of the Turkic World” program will further strengthen the cultural unity of the Turkic peoples and provide unique opportunities for all artists and cultural figures.
