Kazakhstan Establishes State Language Requirements for Citizenship

The order came into force today, October 12.

As of October 12, new requirements for obtaining citizenship in Kazakhstan have come into effect, following an order approved by the Minister of Science and Higher Education on October 8, 2024, TuraNews.kz reports.

The new regulations specify that applicants for citizenship, as well as those seeking to restore it, must achieve a minimum score of 36 points in the state language proficiency exam at the elementary level. Additionally, they must score at least 9 points on the basics of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan and 15 points on the history of Kazakhstan.

The order took effect the day after its first official publication.
