Yacht Fire in Türkiye Injures 17 Tourists
A yacht carrying tourists caught fire near Marmaris, Türkiye. The incident happened on July 14, according to the Haberler news agency.
The fire broke out on the Eagles yacht, just 10 km from the resort town of Marmaris, shortly after it left Kechi Island. Passengers had to jump overboard to escape the flames, and the yacht eventually sank completely.
Coast Guard teams rescued the passengers from the water and brought them to shore. The injured were taken to hospitals in Mugla and Marmaris for treatment.
A total of 96 passengers and six crew members were safely evacuated. Out of the 17 injured, 14 had minor injuries while three were seriously hurt.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire and have opened an administrative case.
