Astana Residents Advised to Implement Remote Work During SCO Summit

Residents of Astana are being advised to have up to 70% of their employees work remotely in early July due to the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. The summit will be held in Astana on July 3-4, 2024, prompting enhanced security measures.

The city’s Education Department recommends that government agencies and the quasi-public sector adopt a remote work format for the majority of their employees from July 2 to July 4 to help reduce traffic congestion during the event.

Additionally, preschool institutions will be closed on July 3-4. This measure follows international practices of implementing heightened security and partial remote work during major international events to facilitate convenience and safety for citizens.

The announcement was made by the press service of the head of state, underscoring the significance of the SCO summit and the corresponding security preparations.
