Regional State of Emergency Declared in Yakutia as Floods Worsen

Aisen Nikolaev, the head of the Sakha Republic, announced on his Telegram channel that a regional-level state of emergency has been declared in Yakutia due to deteriorating flood conditions.

“The government of the republic has been instructed to take all measures to restore settlements and provide social and material assistance to affected citizens,” Nikolaev stated.

According to the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations, active ice drift on the Lena River has commenced in the Kobyaisky, Namsky, Megino-Kangalassky districts, and Yakutsk. Additionally, authorities anticipate a rise in the water level of the Aldan River.

The Namsky district has been particularly hard hit by the flooding, with 16 settlements affected in the region. Approximately 650 courtyard areas and nearly 500 houses remain submerged. Currently, 384 specialists and 92 units of equipment are engaged in flood response efforts in the affected area.
