The Tragedy in South Korea: There is a Kazakh student among those who lost their lives in Seoul stampede

A citizen of Kazakhstan who was studying at an university in Seoul, died during the stampede last night.

according to the information obtained by the Seoul police forces, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan shared the information that a Kazakhstani citizen was among the people who lost their lives in the tragic accident in Seoul, South Korea.

“In the information shared by the Seoul police department, it was stated that among the victims who lost their lives in the Itaewon region where the stampede took place, a Kazakh citizen who was born in 1996 and a resident of Aktobe region, was also among the victims. In the shared report, it was stated that she was studying at one of universities in South Korea.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan reported that the family of the Kazakh citizen who lost his life in the accident was contacted and the necessary procedures were initiated to send his body to Kazakhstan as soon as possible.

The Halloween festival which has been postponed for 3 years due to pandemic measures, was decided to be celebrated again on October 29 this year. In the event with a large participation, 151 people including 19 foreigners, died as a result of shortness of breath, heart attack and crushing due to a stampede on a street in Seoul’s famous entertainment district Itaewon.

South Korean President Yoon Seok-yeol announced that a national day of mourning was declared across the country due to tragic accident.
